A small village in the Tatra Mountains

Quiet, intimate, away from the hustle and bustle, yet with the majesty of the Tatra Mountains at your doorstep. Gliczarów Górny allows you to experience the charm of Podhale in a completely new and authentic way all year round.

A mountain view that will stay with you forever

Matygówka Retreat Villas are two chalets perched on a hillside with stunning views of the Tatra Mountains. Gliczarów Górny is one of the highest villages in Poland. This alone speaks for itself – it is beautiful but also challenging, especially in winter, which can be harsh.

Explore Gliczarów Górny

A small village perched on a ridge just 6km from Bukowina Tatrzańska and 15km from Zakopane, known for its stunning views, aromatic moskale (traditional potato cakes), and idyllic atmosphere.
In the summer, you can cycle along the routes made famous by the Tour de Pologne. In winter, you can ski at the nearby family ski hill “U Steni” (10 minutes’ walk from Matygówka).

Active holidays in the mountains

Matygowka Retreat Villas has been designed with active recreation in mind and can be enjoyed on many levels. The villa has an en-suite yoga room and a comfortable ski room with a separate exit and boot warmers. There are over a dozen popular ski resorts in the area.

5 km to the Rusiń ski resort in Bukowina Tatrzańska 11 km to the Kotelnica Białczańska ski centre 16 km to the valley station of the Kasprowy Wierch cable car.

Even in summer, it is difficult to get bored, thanks to the nearby cycling routes and the Tatra National Park, which offers 270 km of picturesque, well-marked hiking trails. We will be happy to recommend the ones we like best, as well as instructors and mountain guides to accompany your group while hiking or learning to ski, or snowboard.

Discover the treasures of the region

Remember that Podhale is not just about mountains. 30km from Matygówka Retreat Villas stands the charming Niedzica Castle on the Czorsztyn Reservoir. In summer, you can enjoy the beach, the SUP pier, or the famous Dunajec rafting trip.

Curious about the local culture? You can experience it step by step by visiting the 10 branches of the Tatra Museum. Or listen to the stories of the local folk. Sit down in a shepherd’s hut and try some traditional delicacies.

Taste the flavours of Podhale

The number of restaurants in Gliczarowo Górne can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Each of them offers excellent food – just like in the old days – hearty and seasonal, based on local produce and recipes handed down from generation to generation.
We will recommend the best places in the region where you can enjoy the traditional cuisine of Podhale. You will know where to get the best moskale (potato cakes), oscypki (smoked sheep’s cheese), and smoked fish, as well as the healthy vegan cuisine that few people know about.

Avoid crowds and tourist kitsch

The nearest attractions are just a stone’s throw away. You have a choice of thermal baths, popular walking and hiking trails, and ski resorts. We will be happy to tell you where to eat well, who to ask for the best cycling routes, where to go trekking, where to go skiing in winter, or where to go on more challenging expeditions under the watchful eye of mountain guides.
Here you can find everything you want in the mountains at its best – without the crowds and the tourist kitsch. There are no tourist stalls, countless pubs, or overcrowded streets. Instead, there is a soothing silence that fosters a sense of intimacy and relaxation.
